Stefan Van Aelst
Stefan Van Aelst (Belgium) obtained his PhD at the University of Antwerp. He was a Faculty member of Ghent University from 2002 until 2015. In 2013 he joined the department of Mathematics at KU Leuven, where he is head of the Section of Data Science and Statistics. His current research topics include robust methods for high-dimensional and functional data and involves estimation, inference, outlier detection and model selection. His work involves both methodological and computational developments. He has published over 100 papers in journals and books. He is founding co-editor of the “Journal of Data Science, Statistics, and Visualisation” a new open access journal under the auspices of the International Association for Statistical Computing (IASC) whose first issues are scheduled to appear in 2019. He is also an Associate Editor for several statistics journals.
